Procurement, step by step

Portable grain dryer procurement support

A portable grain dryer request should explain both the drying task and how the machine will reach its operating position. Terra Link Sourcing translates those requirements into a brief for factory matching, with open questions and exclusions recorded before offers are compared.

Four conversations that shape a comparable offer

01

Define the drying cycle

Record crop, inlet and target grain moisture content, required throughput and daily operating hours. Ask whether the capacity statement includes loading, drying, cooling and discharge. A t/h figure without its crop and moisture conditions leaves the comparison incomplete.

02

Capture the site connection

State supply voltage, frequency, phases, fuel type and existing handling equipment. For PTO-driven arrangements, request the power requirement in hp or kW and the mechanical interface. Do not apply a field implement's working-width value to a grain dryer.

03

Request factory scope

Ask the candidate supplier to name the exact configuration, materials, control functions, manuals, wear parts and installation responsibilities. A document request is a check to perform; it does not mean the factory has already been audited or approved.

04

Compare total procurement cost

Keep currency, quantity, unit basis and destination identical. Separate machine price from packing, spare parts, transport, duties, site preparation, commissioning and ongoing support. Supplier availability, payment terms and delivery windows remain subject to written confirmation.

Questions to settle before accepting an alternative

Does portable mean road ready?

No transport permission follows from the product name. Request transport dimensions, mass, towing details and loading instructions. The buyer should confirm the movement route and any local obligations for the specific equipment with the responsible adviser.

How should MOQ, samples and seasonal timing be discussed?

Ask each factory for minimum order quantity, an available sample or demonstration route, and a delivery schedule tied to specification approval. A sample may verify a component rather than a full dryer. Ask what would postpone dispatch and who performs site commissioning.

Can a budget preference guide matching?

Yes. A premium preference may prioritize control documentation and service arrangements; a budget preference may accept a simpler configuration. Compare both against the same essential drying and safety requirements. These preferences are not supplier quality ratings.

Turn a price question into a buying specification

Brief needing clarification

“One portable dryer for the harvest.” This leaves moisture reduction, grain basis, handling connections, power and destination unresolved. A factory could answer with a configuration that does not fit the site.

Brief ready for supplier review

“One dryer for corn; buyer to confirm inlet/outlet moisture, t/h basis, daily shifts, fuel, power and site plan; quote cooling, augers, spares and delivery separately.” This is an illustrative scope, not a model specification or performance claim.

Use the procurement checklist with the catalog options to record the details that remain open.

Send the portable drying brief

Describe mobility needs and the equipment already on site. A written requirement gives factory matching a practical starting point; an inquiry does not establish a supplier relationship or reserve a delivery date.
